The green fairy . La fee verte. The Green goddess. Gin’s naughty cousin.
It's Absinthe. And this year this on-trend spirit is the star of Art and Soul, the Winnipeg Art Gallery's annual fundraiser.
The gala party, called Lucid Dreams, runs Saturday January 31 at the downtown gallery. Tickets cost $55 each and have been selling like crazy. The party is also a celebration of surrealist Salvador Dali, whose work was featured in the latest exhibition at the Gallery. The popular exhibit has been extended to February 22.
Saturday's party features music by DJs Hunnicutt, Co-op, Mama Cutsworth, and Ashi and Zuki. Party guests will get a close up look at the exhibition.
A traditional absinthe bar will also be part of the action. The emerald green liquor was mythically purported to have hallucinogenic qualities but is not readily served in Winnipeg lounges and bars.
Art and Soul is one of Winnipeg's most talked about annual galas. A few tickets are still available at the door. For information check out the Art and Soul website here.
