Winnipeggers love their food and they love their food festivals. Below are some of the city's upcoming events that celebrate the best of the harvest. Join the party, feast on local eats and meet some of Manitoba's most talented and innovative chefs.

Thursday September 6: Farmers' Feast

Join a team of local star chefs for a “gourmet outdoor feast” during the Farmers' Feast at St. Norbert Farmers' Market. Using the freshest ingredients harvested from local farms and fields, top kitchen wizards work their magic during the three-hour fresh-air dinner party. The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $75 each. St. Norbert Farmers' Market is located a few minutes south of Winnipeg at 3514 Pembina Highway. Tuesday September 11: Boys and Girls Club of Winnipeg Winnipeg 100-Mile Dinner

The challenge? Make a multi-course dinner for 300 guests using the freshest Manitoba ingredients around. This year's second annual event includes a sit-down dinner. The menu is still being finalized but given the roster of great chefs on board, the food is guaranteed to be great.

This year's chefs include Ben Kramer (Elements), Adam Donnelly (Segovia), Tristan Foucault (Peasant Cookery), Mandel Hitzer (deer + almond), Luc Jean (Red River College), Norman Pastorin (The Grove), Michael Schafer (Sydney's and Rudy's) and Alexander Svenne (Bistro 7 ¼). Funds raised go to the Winnipeg's Boys and Girls Club. Dinner is set at Caboto Centre (1055 Wilkes Avenue). Tickets cost $125 each. For more information call 204-975-0634.

September 25: Time for Tapas

Join Manitoba's food bloggers for a night of amazing eats and insiders' talk about the province's stellar culinary scene at Segovia restaurant. These passionate prairie dwellers know how to eat, drink and be merry. Join the party and sample Spanish tapas made by talented chef Adam Donnelly. Tickets: $10.

Tuesdays September 4 to October 16: Fabulous Foodie classes at Assiniboine Park

Learn about Manitoba horticulture, history and culture while savouring tasty tidbits made by local celebrated chefs during themed food classes. Fabulous Foodie classes are the work of Assiniboine Park and the Manitoba Liquor Commission. This fall's classes include Savouring Local foods, Chiles Gone Wild, The Joy of Tarts and Warming and Wonderful Soups, among others.
