In Summer 2013, a major influx of food trucks hit Winnipeg streets. The party really started in 2011. That year, El Torrito brought their brand of fresh Mexican street food to the city.
Falafels, Japanese sweets, Thai, Laotian, Ukrainian, Filipino and French favourites, wood-fired pizza, gourmet sammies and poutine every-which-way are now all for sale from Winnipeg’s kitchen on wheels. Street food in Winnipeg is a multi-cultural melange that mirrors the city’s diverse citizenry.
Just like 2013, Peg City Grub will retweet daily locations of all city food trucks that Tweet their location and tag @PegCityGrub. If you see a food truck, let PCG know via Twitter for a retweet.
While we wait for the temperatures to rise, here’s a little taste of what’s to come. Here is the 2014 Winnipeg Food Truck Guide. Throughout the season, the guide will be updated with new information throughout spring and summer.
